LO4 (D2): Evaluating the flow
In the final edit of the WDQ radio show the way in which the audio has been edited together makes the flow professional, to do this we made sure that the background track helps the different audio clips flow into each other without having a harsh stop from each segment. We also made the audio at the end of the track be dimmed so it flows out, into the background beat. This makes our radio show suitable and fit for its purpose as it clearly tells the audience what the show is about whilst including different guests and also having the jingle and the advert, to give it the radio feel. We included interviews with the guests, who are professionals and works for the wildlife park and tells the audience different information, that people may not know about the wildlife park. This radio show sounds like a real radio show as it contain elements such as the advert, for Jazz Cafe and the jingle for WDQ. As some of the bloopers and mistakes have been added into the radio show, to make it seem as it has been live on air to make it seem more realistic.
At the beginning of the radio show we ensured that we included a distinct beginning to the show where both hosts say the same thing at the same time and concluded the show with the same technique. By doing this it makes our show recognizable to our audience so they know when our show starts as well as when it finishes. The start is then followed by the snippet of the jingle, then a short introduction of the show, completed with the full jingle. This was done to ensure that their was a clear beginning and to make the introduction recognizable and professional for our audience.
When recording and editing the radio show would be the jingle and how we edited and adapted the voice uses different sound effects and by changing the pitch of the voice to make it more appealing, so it would stand out to our audience, making the show recognizable. With the jingle being unique to the show it gives WDQ an audio logo, so the audience know what show is about to play, just by listening to the jingle. The editing in the radio show would be another strength to the final product as it makes the content on the show more interesting, so it can make the flow go through better with the editing technique of adding different background audio and changing the volume of audio when rolling through different audio clips, making it sound like any other radio show. A strength with the recording would be that we unintentionally added comedic effects to the radio show, which makes shows more engaging and relatable, therefore making them successful in the future.
A weakness of our radio show would be the paused silences, as well as the start and stop and when the lion roar is really loud at the beginning of the jingle. However, to the naked eye it may not be noticeable unless you specifically looking out for faults. The silences occur when presenters are talking to the guests and there is a pause as the presenters was unsure of what to say. I would also say that the jingle doesn’t flow with the content on the radio showwhat’s the jingle just stops and doesn’t flow into the content. The loud right at the start of the jingle may be considered too loud to headphone users so in future we would need to lower the tempo of a roar so it doesn’t cause any hearing issues for people listening to our show.
A way in which we would improve our radio show is to make the jingle fade in and out more consistently to the content I will also make sure that we’re doing more rehearsals so that the content and the jingles played together which well counteract any silences that could occur. I will also than quiet on the road at the start of a gin called to make it more appropriate so it doesn’t risk damaging peoples ears which could cause I’m hearing issues in the future.
