LO2: Investigate technologies for multiplatform radio broadcasting

Image
Radio shows can be distributed through different media platforms such as online, through websites or on the radio. They can be promoted and advertised to their audience through different below the line methods like social media platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook. Other types of advertising can be below the line methods such as through billboards posters and leaflets.  The transmitter is the key part of broadcasting any radio station. It takes your broadcast signal, then encodes it and transmits it as radio waves that then can be picked up by any reciever. There is several types of radio transmitters available from Progressive Concepts. There are large FM transmitter for the full power radio station as well as there are medium to low power FM transmitter such as the ones used on LPFM stations. The receiver then picks up the encoded broadcasted signal, then decodes it and allows listeners to hear it. This allows your radio to pick up the signal...

LO3: Rushes/Practise

advert:  This is one of the first basic practises for the advert that shows the 2 hosts debating and needing to change the way that the voice sounds to make it more appealing, interesting and exciting making them stand out from the rest of the show, conniving people to come to the jazz cafe. radio show:  This is us practising the start of the radio show, this is being used as evidence of the practising the type of way which we speak and trying to get the correct timing to get in sync with one another.

LO4: Final edit

This is the final radio show, it shows the different effects, audio and the flow. It also includes where the advert and jingle is included and how each segment flows into each other smoothly. This shows how it has been edited from the offline edit and how the different sound effects and beats can completely transform audio clips into a radio show. It also shows the editing techniques that makes the show flow, to make the radio show sound professional and appealing.

LO4: Editing Process

Advert:  In one of the screenshots below it shows how I have put the audio in to a multitrack to create the different layers in the advert, so I can edit them together, overlapping the audio. I also change the tempo of the voice to improve the audio, so the voice in the advert isn't overpowering and puts people off what the advert is actually about. By adding this it means the voice is more appealing and joyful to its target audience making people want to visit the Jazz Cafe. To make sure the audio fades in to one another I turned down the volume to give it a gradual fade into the next audio giving it a professional feel.  The other screenshot shows how I have exported the advert from a WAV file to an MP3, to make the file size smaller so I can successfully add it to my blog.  Jingle: To make the jingle I imported all the audio which I knew I was going to use into a new multitrack, called jingle. I then made sure that I had the audio in the correct order for how I wanted ...

LO4: Offline edit

This is the offline edit of our radio show, before we added the special effects and the jingle and the advert. It shows the running order of the show and how it flows. This then tests how to flow works and if we needed to change the order to make it more professional feel to it, to make people want to listen to it. This will help in the final edit as it can help us expand our ideas and know what else we need to add, and the effects in order to make the show the best it can be.

LO4 (D2): Evaluating the flow

In the final edit of the WDQ radio show the way in which the audio has been edited together makes the flow professional, to do this we made sure that the background track helps the different audio clips flow into each other without having a harsh stop from each segment. We also made the audio at the end of the track be dimmed so it flows out, into the background beat. This makes our radio show suitable and fit for its purpose as it clearly tells the audience what the show is about whilst including different guests and also having the jingle and the advert, to give it the radio feel.  We included interviews with the guests, who are professionals and works for the wildlife park and tells the audience different information, that people may not know about the wildlife park. This radio show sounds like a real radio show as it contain elements such as the advert, for Jazz Cafe and the jingle for WDQ. As some of the bloopers and mistakes have been added into the radio show, to make it see...

this table shows the audio and the amount of audio from each type of audio, which I used when editing the radio show, the jingle and the advert.

LO4: Rushes of audio

Advert:  This audio below is evidence of what we recorded for the advert before creating the real audio clips which we used in the show. It also shows the original audio and how it sounded before any editing or sound effects were added. This shows people the raw footage and how in the show it had been edited to make it more appropriate and appealing for our target audience.  Radio show:  This is more raw footage of the radio show before editing and adding in any sound effects. In this footage it contains the bloopers and bits that need to be taken out and re-recorded before adding them into the multitrack. In the final takes we made sure to make sure the wording and the language is more accurate to make it more appealing and informative.

LO3: Legal and Ethical

When creating our radio show I needed to make sure that I stuck to the different media regulation rules which is created by Ofcom. The content which we produced bad to have no swearing/ violent/ sexual references/ or promoting alcohol or drugs to minors, that could potentially offend anyone. Having stuck to the rules which was put in place by Ofcom it means that if we wanted the radio station to be broadcasted in the future then it would be accepted as it would not offend anyone. We also took into consideration about using our own original content in the show to avoid getting a copyright fee.   In our radio show we would need to make sure that we avoid plagiarisms and copyright. This is where you use someone else work but claim that it is your own original content or use some else's work without permission . This would be important to take into consideration when creating the radio show as if we were to upload sounds or clips from someone else...

For this project we are going to create an audio product for a local Wildlife Park, which was launched on the 23rd of May . This will inform people on the latest events and to advertise various aspects and main events that are going to come up, throughout the show, whilst entertaining an audience. The genre of backing music playing will be classic pop, family friendly and upbeat, which is well known to my target audience. From producing this radio show it will enhance the success and provide the audience with more knowledge of the events meaning they will be more successful for it has been broadcasted locally and is being promoted. Also, I am hoping to make the radio show more entertaining than already existing shows that talk about related topics. By doing this more people are more likely to listen to it, which will then grow the audience, making the Wildlife Park more known over the U.K.    My target audience will be mainstreamers and explorers, aimed towards families, whi...
